Cloud Learning

Post a reflection of your experience. List potential instructional situations where synchronous meetings would lead to innovative or improved learning experiences for your students.

I created a Google presentation and shared it with my students.  The presentation had a title page with our unit topic, similarity, and the definition of similarity we discussed throughout the unit.  The second slide displayed the instructions:

(#1) Create your own slide in this presentation showing 2 similar objects.  Use objects that interest you.  I chose Fred Flinstone.
(#2) Comment on SOMEONE ELSE'S picture describing why their figures are similar or not similar.
(#3) HAVE FUN!

Since Friday, students have been adding their own similar figures and commenting on others' figures.  This will be a start to reviewing and preparing for our Similarity test  I will post again after I discuss the project with students.

In my extension class, I extend geometry concepts with students who are struggling.  We began the Google doc project in this class and the students were excited to share their interests.  They also enjoyed seeing who is editing the document.  I liked seeing my visual learners open up during this project and it lead to a great conversation about proportions and  how they relate to similarity.

I did not enjoy that students can delete others' comments and images.  I will likely look through the feed that shows the editing reel to ensure this was not an issue.  This was the only issue I saw so far, but I will post again after speaking to my students.

I use Cloud Learning for SADD club often for things such as table sign ups, club attendance, etc. and I am excited to begin using this in the classroom.  I believe this could be something that I use more frequently.
